Hi. The oil that Volvo recommends is 0W30 from Castrol. How many miles do the car have and what oil have it used so far? Does it burn oil?

Need your help.
A lot of places I can see that my Volvo V70 170hp modelyear 2005 (bought in 2004) is recommended a Castrol oil.

Castrol (UK) recommends a 0w30(a5) or 5w30(c3) or 0w40 (A3)…for my engine B5244S.
https://applications.castrol.com/oilselector/en_gb/c/recommendation?vehicleType=cars&manufacturer=volvo-(eu)&model=v70-(2000-2008)&modelType=v70-2-4-(125-kw)-(2000-2005)

And You recommend for same engine: (oil for EU): a A5 or A3. (and US A1)

Driving in Denmark…….looking forward to your reply – Thank you
peter

Hi

This information was retrieved from official Volvo Technical Specifications.
Your engine should use a 0w30 . The A5/B5 replaces the previous A3/B3/B4 specification, both can be used.

Your engine is a genuine Volvo 5-cylinder, not Ford.

Regards,

Looking for the one preferred kind of engine oil for the long term, for my vehicle: 2008 VOLVO S60-T5 (VIN: YV1RS544982699524, Engine: B5244T5), and I’m a little confused about.
The label in the engine compartment say’s SAE 0W-30 ACEA A3/B3/B4, the local (Israel) dealer use SAE 5W-40, asking why, the only answer I received was “it’s confirmed by VOLVO”, not satisfied with. I know the dealer use this kind of engine oil for all VOLVO cars, and also other vehicle brands deal with. Majority of engine oil brands recommends SAE 5W-30 ACEA A3/B3 (some A5/B5). Here on the VOLVO HOW TO site, watching Europe table, recommendation is SAE 0W-30 ACEA A5/B5 (Castrol the same).
The truth, SAE 0W-30 is less common in my place, SAE 5W-30 & SAE 5W-40 are common.
If environmental conditions has any influence, or driving form, below 0 Celsius: NEVER,
38/40 Celsius: few days in summer sometimes, if any. Driving: most of time moderate.
Parenthetically, can it be this engine is a FORD engine (as I know, owned VOLVO those days)? So the engine oil should match FORD specifications ??
As mentioned above, looking far ahead, Years & Milage, I’m looking for the one specific best kind of engine oil match’s my vehicle engine.
Sorry if bothering, Kind Regards,
Aharon
