Hi. I would try a 5w40 and see how the engine reacts to it. What engine oil did it had?

I bough a “new” 1994 Volvo 850 GLE. Has 128000kms, so It`s amazing his presence.

About engine, was with the same oil about 6 years, only runs about 5000 kms in those 6 years. So I make a basic manteinance routine, new spark plugs, change air and oil filter, new oil (Valvoline synpower 10w40), flush in power steering, brakes and clutch slave cylinder, etc….

But I have a question about oil. the eternal doubt. Which oil is better???

I need a brand and a quality to decide the nesxt oil change that I want to make in 1000kms.

Its Valvoline synpower 10w40 a good oil for this engine and kilometer???
Maybe better Valvoline allclimate???
Shel Hellix hx7???
Other viscosity (ex 5w40)????
The average temp here Its between -5ºC at winter to 3-35ºC at summer.

The engine dont burn oil, runs quiet, no blowby,no vibrations, ideal iddle, lovely 5 cyl sound so It`s like a dream for me.

Any help is good for me. Thanks.

Regards from Bilbao, Spain.
