How to replace the Engine Air Filter in Volvo S60, V70, S80, XC70, XC90

The Engine air filter on your Volvo S60 (2000 to 2010), S80 (1998 to 2006), V70 (2000 to 2007), XC70 (2000 to 2007) or XC90 (2003 to 2015) should be replaced every 60.000 kms (or less, if you drive on dirty roads).

The Original Volvo Part Number for the air filter is:

  • 9454647 for all Petrol Engines and Diesel Engines until 2006
  • 30636833 for Diesel Engines from 2006-on

Replacing the engine air filter is a very simple job that will take you around 10 minutes, just follow this steps:

Step 1: Open the hood, you’ll find the air filter housing near the right side headlamp

Step 2: Release the 3 brackets on the bottom of the housing (marked with green), disconnect the plug marked in red, lossen the clamp marked with yellow.

Step 3: Remove the housing cover. You should start to pull the front of the cover up a couple of inches, and then pull forward to disengage the 3 brackets in the back of the cover.

Step 4: Replace the old air filter with the new one. You should vacuum any dirt (insects, leaves, etc…) that are deposited in the bottom of the housing.

Step 5: Put the housing cover back on place, re-engage the 3 front brackets, plug the plug, attach the hose and tighten the clamp and you’re done!
